How this media company is monetizing history as content genre?
I have always been a huge historical buff…loved visiting monuments, loved understanding how people went about their lives in earlier days…how systems were different..kingdoms than democracies..
Then I stumbled upon history books written by historians and authors such as William Darlymple, Alex Rutherford or the more recent Manu Pillai. I mean I have never heard of Malik Amber till I read these books. We were never taught about why a certain ruler transferred his capital from Delhi to the south only to then bring it back.
Storytelling was lost despite the fact that the oldest of morals have been told through stories in our country. When you listen to the Vedas or the Puranas, they route essential information via stories itself, yet we seem to have forgotten the art.
What was taught in school was very limited. You were simply mugging up the administrative system of a ruler, you were mugging up the architecture with a few outdated pictures..
Until Now!!
Anoushka started Enroute Indian History with an aim to make heritage walks an essential part of any historical lovers’ itinerary…while it was an initial success..Covid came by…and then she switched to building a media company with a focus on highly researched historical content..
Audiences were lapping it up and now she has an entire team segregated into research, social and video to enhance this new format of history storytelling.
