How this media-tech platform wants to become the largest reporter network in Asia?
I caught up with Saurabh from 101Reporters — a mediatech platform which is not only trying to build a network of reporters across South Asia but also trying to solve for very soft issues in the reportage space.
There has always been a lack of respect for reporters in the country particularly from the Tier 2 and 3 cities wherein they are often treated with disrespect by senior journalists from within too. They are underpaid, they are often treated as additional porters while doing joint assignments and so on. 101Reporters is solving for it by training and bringing these reporters in front of the large publishing outlets across the world.
Also, 101Reporters realized that India is not getting the depth of stories that spans across our vast country — stories of different people, stories of unreported events, stories of ideologies which the bigger ones fail to publish and many more. They therefore have launched their own platform, where bigger publishing houses can get access to story pitches and then decide whether they want to publish it or not.
Hats off to Saurabh, Gangadhar and team at 101Reporters for what they are doing. Here is the link for people who want to hear their story.
